80+ key training programmes for manufacturing professionals


The Luxembourg Digital Innovation Hub (L-DIH) has updated its catalogue with over 80 programmes that are beneficial for digital transformation in the manufacturing sector. 

The training catalogue lists several training programmes offered by reputable institutions and training providers across Luxembourg and the Greater Region.

With over 80 training programmes available in different languages, including English, French and German, the catalogue prepared by the Luxembourg Digital Innovation Hub is a valuable resource for individuals and organisations seeking to enhance their skills, knowledge and competencies in diverse areas related to the digital transformation of manufacturing businesses.

“Companies in production and manufacturing receive a complete and at the same time focused image of the training landscape in Luxembourg, with programmes specifically catering to their needs. It is the result of several discussions with experts on the skill demands of the sectors in Luxembourg that are part of a general transitioning towards a more digital and automated Industry 4.0. The training categories have also been defined based on these insights and they should facilitate the recognition of training needs,” says Dr Thomas Benz, ICT - Training Project Coordinator at the University of Luxembourg Competence Centre.

It is the result of several discussions with experts on the skill demands of the sectors in Luxembourg.

It covers a wide range of topics such as automation, industrial internet of things (IIoT), cybersecurity, digitalisation, emerging technologies, digital marketing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, industrial robotics, supercomputing, soft skills and much more.

“Part of the L-DIH consortium’s mission is to support the development of digital skills and relevant training programmes to facilitate the digital transformation of the national manufacturing ecosystem. Having a centralised catalogue makes it easier for our manufacturing companies to identify and compare programmes that are available to help bridge some of the knowledge gaps that may exist within their organisations,” explains Joachim Clemens-Stolbrink, Digital Innovation Hub Manager at Luxinnovation.

New training providers, different profiles 


A first version of the DIH training catalogue was published in 2023.

“The new version of the catalogue is further refined, as we identified soft skills specific for the purposes of training in the fields of OT (operational technologies) and IT and added this as a category. The new catalogue now includes four new training providers and several programmes overlooked in version 1.0, as they were not accessible to us in terms of language. One of the new training providers caters to professionals from a distinctly German-speaking environment, while another offers most of its programmes in French, using training terminologies native to French production environments,” specifies Dr Jaruwan Mesit, ICT Project Manager, at the University of Luxembourg Competence Centre.

It is imperative not to overlook the human component of the digital transformation process.

Training programmes suited to specific technical, non-technical, advanced and beginner level profiles are offered in a variety of formats, including online and in-person.

“It is imperative not to overlook the human component of the digital transformation process, which is more effective when all employees, including top-level executives, have the skills and support they need to make informed business decisions and navigate the changing manufacturing landscape,” adds Mr Clemens-Stolbrink.

While certain programmes are accessible to anyone interested, others cater specifically to the training needs of entrepreneurs, CEOs, engineers, ICT administrators, IT department staff, technicians, maintenance personnel and additional profiles.
